REAL Impact

The Beginning of Something REAL

Though REAL Nonprofit Inc. is newly formed (registered with the Secretary of the State of Georgia in March 2025 and received a determination letter from the IRS for 501(c)(3) status in late June of 2025), we have already made a huge impact! Our first contribution was on August 12, 2025, when we donated 831 books to Books for Africa (see picture of our founder, Shaan Sancheti, with Bruce Travis, Shipping and Receiving Manager at the BFA warehouse, and James Hall, Production Manager at the BFA warehouse).

We hosted our first food drives in September 2025, and since that time, the student team has collectively gathered 3,258 food items, weighing over 2,059 pounds (or over a TON)! The Youth Advisory Council members delivered 2,382 of those food items to North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) on October 11, 2025. REAL Nonprofit Inc. made a second delivery of 535 food items to NFCC on October 25, 2025, and intends to deliver subsequent food donations from upcoming food drives in the next few months to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Tyler Johnson (Youth Advisory Council VP of Community Engagement and Volunteer Management) and Shaan Sancheti (Youth Advisory Council President) have made two additional trips to deliver items to Books for Africa, and the student team has collected over 3,330 books to date!

The Youth Advisory Council recruited 3 student ambassadors to help with the September food and book drives, 3 more student ambassadors to help with the October food and book drives, and now has expanded the team again to include 3 more student ambassadors who are assisting with neighborhood drives during the month of November. In just a few short months, REAL has expanded its reach to collect donations across 4 counties in metro Atlanta (Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, and DeKalb). The REAL Youth Advisory Council members and student ambassadors include 12 students who represent 7 schools and 10 neighborhoods across metro Atlanta (but using neighboring communities and extended family members, the team has collected across 13 neighborhoods to date).

Stella Figueroa (Youth Advisory Council VP of Marketing and Communications) coordinated a food and book drive through her Walton softball team in early October, and the students continue to brainstorm ways to extend their reach beyond their neighborhoods and schools into all aspects where they live, learn, and play. We can’t wait to see what the REAL impact from a generation of empowered youth continues to be for metro Atlanta!

Ever wondered what it's like to found a nonprofit out of your home? Take a look at what we collected in just the month of September 2025 (and this video was taken after we had already dropped off over 1700 books to Books for Africa!)
